the major decision that a student makes at my age would be deciding his college and majors.
Depending on which college he gets in, the family's financial stability gets affected no matter how much loans the student gets. different tuitions depends on colleges, different expenses depends on locations, and also whether he commutes or boards also effects his expenses.
Majors as well as hard to choose, since at this age not many people are certain about what they wants to become. In fact, most of the college students change their majors at their sophomore year. Also majors are sometimes very specified, and sometimes students lose their certainty about the major. For example, a student with strong science sometimes have difficulty deciding between biology, chemistry, biochemistry, bio-engineering, or chemical engineering.
This is very common for all students and their enviroment also takes a role in choosing one, or vice-versa.
